More Roots
Publisher: Eternal Hearts
With simple rules, yet profound information, the game of “More Roots” may be used to introduce 51 Greek and Latin roots the effortless way. In the process, the student’s understanding of the English vocabulary will be unlocked, a deeper level of comprehension will be added, and S.A.T. scores may be increased.
While most students find dictionaries very frustrating and drill practice boring, dictionary skills are included in each game level to alleviate these problems. Alphabetizing skills and Dictionary Guide Words are reinforced by scanning the Word List and looking under “Headings”. Looking up words in the “More Roots” Dictionary to stump their opponents actually becomes enjoyable. Instead of a place where no one wants to go, dictionaries become a fun-filled place with interesting facts to find.
The four different card games are designed to be fun and stress-free for children as well as adults!
- Pre-Roots is played like “GO FISH”. It teaches the Greek and Latin meanings to 51 Greek and Latin roots.
- Level 1 is played by combining two Greek or Latin root cards together to form English words.
- Level 2 continues combining roots together to form English words. In this level, players learn the definitions of two-root combinations
- Level 3 is similar to “Rummy”. Players now include three-root combinations.
This game may be combined with “Rummy Roots” for even more selections.
