Cursive First
Author: Elizabeth FitzGerald
This package contains a Teacher’s Manual, Practice Sheets and Cursive
Phonogram Cards. Cursive
First may be used with a beginner just learning how to write or with an
older student who is transitioning to cursive.
It has been designed to coordinate with the instructions for introducing
the phonograms which are found in The WISE
Guide.
The Teacher’s Manual includes
discussion and instruction regarding the rationale for teaching cursive first,
developmental consideration , the sequence of teaching with the beginning or
transitioning writer, and advice for detecting visual and perceptual problems.
The Practice Sheets include
detailed instruction and dialog for teaching numerals, cursive strokes, and
the first 26 phonograms. The Practice Sheet masters are reproducible
for each child in the classroom or family.
The Cursive Phonogram Cards include instructions for teaching penmanship and provide practice for reading numerals and the first 26 phonograms in cursive in order to encourage instant recall.
