We are committed to offering dependable, cost-effective educational materials that build strong foundations for the long-term progress of all types of students.The Founder
Beckie Evans lives in Aiken, South Carolina with her husband, Ed. Before marrying, she taught 6th grade in Atlanta for three years. She homeschooled her three children, Brian, Laura, and Mark, from kindergarten through 12th grade for a total of 16 years. Since then, her desire has been to share what she has learned with students and other educators. Beckie was trained and endorsed by SWR author Wanda Sanseri and currently conducts two-day Basic SWR Seminars throughout the Southeast. In addition she does private tutoring and teaches writing classes using The Institute for Excellence in Writing materials.History
Reliable Resources
for Educators is a natural outcome of Beckie’s desire to find
educational resources that build solid foundations for children to last
throughout the educational process. In 1990, she attended a Spell to
Write and Read Seminar (then Teaching Reading at Home & School)
taught by Wanda Sanseri. The concise and logical way phonics and
spelling were taught by SWR answered many questions not addressed by
other programs. After graduating her youngest from homeschool nine
years later, Beckie recalled the program that had impressed her so and
retrieved it from storage. Having heard parents recount the same
reading and spelling problems over the years, she was compelled to
share the SWR program with others. Beckie became a Certified Trainer
for “Spell to Write and Read” and began teaching two-day Basic SWR
Seminars throughout the Southeast as well as tutoring private students.
Soon
after, Beckie discovered “The Institute for Excellence in Writing”
(IEW) materials. Impressed by the uniqueness and logic of that program,
she began teaching writing classes. The results were amazing. Children
who disliked writing gained confidence, actually enjoyed the classes,
and became proficient writers as they were taught the necessary tools
of structure and style.
Out
of a desire to share these outstanding programs, as well as others
discovered along the way, Reliable Resources for Educators was born.
After sharing these programs at many homeschool fairs and education
conventions, Beckie decided to make them more readily available by
first printing a catalog and then adding this website.
